Our Ministries
Sunday Morning Family Worship
Each Sunday morning we come together as a family to Worship God through traditional hymns, prayer, praises, and a message from the Bible. After the service, all are invited to come next door to the fellowship hall for coffee and refreshments. On the first Sunday of every month we celebrate Holy Communion. We invite all those who know and love the Lord to celebrate with us.
Children’s Church
During the Sunday worship service after a Children’s message, children ages 4-12 go to the Fellowship Hall with Kid’s Church teachers for Bible Lessons, Stories, Crafts, Games, Songs, and Fun. We are committed to teaching children about Jesus in a safe, fun and loving atmosphere.
Choir
The choir at WCC is a very active one. Besides participating in the weekly church services and the various “extra” events throughout the year, many of our choir members are part of a music and fellowship “church outside the walls” program at Brandywine Assisted Living in Litchfield. Several of our members also join with area singers to participate in the Goshen Hospice Light Up a Life Service every December. As a choir, we have taken our music ministry to the Barkhamsted Congregational Church, as we take our music “outside of the walls”.
The choir is directed and accompanied by Cindy Iffland, from Litchfield. Cindy has been a church organist for 54 years, her first job as an organist being at the First Congregational Church in West Torrington, CT. when she was 14 years old. She has been a full time organist in several churches, including the First Presbyterian Church in Mansfield, PA, the Goshen Congregational Church, the First Congregational Church in West Torrington and as a part time organist at St. Anthony’s in Litchfield. She has played for many funerals and weddings, as well as serving as a substitute organist in many churches in the area. She is a retired public school music teacher and is currently teaching private music lessons part time at the Kent School and accompanying and directing the Brandywine Assisted Living Chorale.
At this time our choir has 7 permanent and dedicated members. However, we have several guest musicians who are in and out of the choir at any time. These include both singers and instrumentalists. Two of our choir members also accompany us on guitar. We sing 4 part, SATB music, both sacred and secular. We are very proud of our music ministry and include tributes to Veterans and Fallen Heroes each year as part of our Veteran’s and Memorial Day services. Choir Sunday, usually held in June features our singers, along with several guest vocalists and instrumentalists. Rehearsals are weekly and are held before our Sunday morning services. We also have rehearsal scheduled before all of the important religious holidays – Christmas and Easter, specifically. New members are encouraged to participate at any time.
